Fox TV premiere dates are in

Jul 15 2010 Published by under TV

Looks like the premiere dates for network TV are starting to arrive along with some cable stuff too.  Fox released their premiere dates the other day and below are the shows I care about.  Top of that list is Glee.

Lonestar (new series) – Monday Sept 20th
Glee (returning) – Tuesday Sept 21st
Running Wilde (new series) – Tuesday Sept 21st
Fringe (returning) – Thursday Sept 23rd

Certainly not many shows on Fox that I care about, but I’m very excited about Glee, Running Wilde and Fringe, and I’m more than a little intrigued by Lonestar.  I guess I’ll find out what they’re all like in a shade under 10 weeks.

Promo art for FRINGE season 2

Aug 14 2009 Published by under TV

Not long and the fall TV season starts up and I can’t wait.  One of the shows I’m most excited about returning is Fringe.

With that said, here’s a piece of promo art for the upcoming second season of the awesome sci-fi drama.  The second season premiere is scheduled for Thursday September 17th.  I don’t particularly like the move to Thursdays, especially because it goes up against CBS’s hits and NBC’s new comedy block, but I like that Fox has confidence in the show.

Joshua Jackson on set of FRINGE

Here are some new snaps of Joshua Jackson and Lance Reddick filming for the second season of Fringe in Vancouver.

I really enjoyed this show during it’s first season and have high hopes for it going into the second season.  My hope is that it finds it’s own voice and will take over as the prime serialised series once Lost finishes up its final season next year.  I’m still kinda bummed that they fired Kirk Acevedo but I’m confident that they’ll introduce more interesting characters throughout the second season.

The second season premiere of Fringe is scheduled for 17th September at 9PM.

Jealousy over Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci

Jun 18 2009 Published by under Film, TV

Kurtzman and Orci

Nikki Finke over at Deadline Hollywood Daily writes:

“If Michael Bay can have a Hate Club, maybe Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci should, too. That’s because, whenever I mention their names to formerly successful screenwriters and producers who can’t get anything going now, a lot of teeth-gnashing and profanity-spewing ensues. Here’s why: Not only did the duo write and produce Star Trek, which has so far grossed over $350M worldwide (and they’ve signed on to write the sequel). Not only are they the scripters of both Transformers and the upcoming Transformers 2: Revenge Of The Fallen. But they also produced The Proposal which comes out this weekend. So that’s three movies this summer alone, along with the TV series Fringe on Fox. And most nauseating of all, their publicist calls them the “Boys of Summer” 2009.”

Talk about tall poppy syndrome.  Since when did it become cool to begrudge people their success?  I could maybe understand it if he was talking about Jason Friedman and Aaron Seltzer (Scary Movie franchise, Date Movie, Epic Movie, Disaster Movie and Meet the Spartans) because those guys write shitty movies.  But Kurtzman and Orci write good films and work on one of the best new shows of this season in Fringe.

It just sounds like sour grapes from guys who have fallen by the wayside if you ask me.

Total FRINGE bull***t – Acevedo fired

Kirk Acevedo

Kirk Acevedo

Man I’m pissed off about this.  It looks like Kirk Acevedo (Agent Charlie Francis) from Fringe has been fired.  What can the reasoning for this possibly be?  He was great on the show and worked well with Olivia.  Ahhhh, I’m just so annoyed.

This is apparently what appeared on his Facebook page:
“WELL BOYS AND GIRLS THEY DONE DID YER BOY WRONG! THEY FIRED ME OFF OF FRINGE, AND IVE NEVER BEEN FIRED IN MY LIFE!!!!”

The official Fox fall schedule

May 19 2009 Published by under Film

FoxHere we go, the official Fox fall schedule.  I guess it’s pretty good, but I don’t like Fringe on Thursdays.  There’s just too much competition on that night, and if the ratings are low Fox could (and probably would) use that to cancel the show.  Keeping it on Tuesdays would have been a better idea in my opinion.  It kinda reminds me of when they moved The O.C. to Thursdays and it suffered because of it.
