365 Day Unseen Movie Marathon – Day 17 – SHREK FOREVER AFTER (2010)

Jan 17 2011 Published by under Film

Title: Shrek Forever After

Directed by: Mike Mitchell

Written by: Josh Klausner & Darren Lemke

Current Flickchart position:  #962 of 1332 overall.  My #50 film, of 54, from the year 2010.

What It’s About:
Rumpelstiltskin tricks a mid-life crisis burdened Shrek into allowing himself to be erased from existence and cast in a dark alternate timeline where Rumpel rules supreme.

General Comments:
It’s as painfully ordinary as ever other Shrek film with the only real positive being the character of Rumpelstiltskin.  Nothing more to say.

Watch this film to see how to waste the talents of Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy, how to make a tired and soulless film, and as an example of how married life should make you want to kill yourself.

Rating:  4.5/10

Lea Michele joins DOROTHY OF OZ

Jun 12 2010 Published by under Film

The supremely talented Lea Michele, my favourite person on my favourite show (Glee) has joined the upcoming animated 3D film Dorothy of Oz as the voice of Dorothy.

I’m happy that she’s getting roles thanks to the success of Glee, but I’d be happier if she (and others from the show) got live action stuff instead of voiceover work.  Still, it’s good that she got the role and it can really only lead to bigger and better things.

Dorothy of Oz is set to conclude production at the end of 2011 which should lead to a release in 2012.  I’ve also added the film to the future 3D films list.

New poster for NEIGHBORS FROM HELL

May 17 2010 Published by under TV

I really don’t know anything about Neighbors From Hell other than what I found on The Futon Critic, which says that it centers on the Hellmans, a typical, all-American suburban family who just happen to be from Hell.  Will Sasso, Molly Shannon and Patton Oswalt lend their voices.

I’m all for new animated comedy shows, especially if they’re not done by Seth MacFarlane, so I’m hoping that Neighbors From Hell turns out well.  I’m expecting a fairly tame show, certainly not to the level of Archer and probably not even to South Park.  That being said, not all animated shows have to be filled with profanity, nudity or crudeness to win me over.  The Simpsons used to be consistently great before it stuck around too long and that show’s tame by todays standards.

The show is set to premiere on June 7th on TBS.

Trailer for MARS

I don’t know what to say about Mars other than it looks like a cool quirky indie flick.  Hopefully I’ll get a chance to see this at some point.

I’m at a loss for words with this one.  It looks both insane and fantastic but in the best way possible.

THE FANTASTIC MR. FOX trailer

Jul 31 2009 Published by under Film

Here’s the trailer for Wes Anderson’s next film, The Fantastic Mr Fox.

I’ve been pretty disappointed with Anderson’s films lately.  The Royal Tenenbaums was brilliant but Life Aquatic was a bit of a let down and The Darjeeling Limited was just terrible.  The Hotel Chevalier short was awesome though thanks in no small part to Natalie Portman’s nudity.

All that said, this looks really good.  Like a stop motion animal version of Ocean’s 11.

DESPICABLE ME trailer

Would you look at all that comedic talent.  Steve Carell, Russell Brand, Jason Segel, Kristin Wiig, Danny McBride, Will Arnett, Ken Jeong and Jack McBrayer.  Admittedly it’s for an animated film, but that’s still a great collection of actors.

And the film actually sounds pretty damn cool too.

Only 11 days until THE GOODE FAMILY arrives

May 16 2009 Published by under TV

I’ve never been a big fan of King of the Hill, but I enjoy all of Mike Judge’s films (Office Space, Idiocracy and the upcoming Extract) and am really looking forward to his new animated show The Goode Family which is set to air on ABC starting May 27th.  The Goode Family are an obsessively “green” family who live a politically correct lifestyle, and are always trying to do the good thing.

The show was created by Mike Judge, John Altschuler and David Krinsky, and features the voices of Mike Judge, David Herman, Nancy Carell, Linda Cardellini, and Brian Doyle Murray.
