Another 3D project – this time it’s PIXELS

According to Deadline, Columbia Pictures and Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison are in negotiations to make a feature film based on the short Pixels.

I saw this short a while back on 1up.com and thought it was one of the most inventive things I’d seen in a long long time. I have no idea what they’d do to turn it into a feature length film but I’m certainly intrigued. And in 3D no less. God I love the emergence of 3D. I hope everyone does it.

I’ve been hanging for a while to see something from Grown Ups and now we have the new trailer.

Would you look at all those SNL guys back together. This is a must see for me even if it turns out to be pretty average. I love the 90′s SNL guys so having them all together along with Salma Hayek and Maria Bello should be great.

FUNNY PEOPLE not doing well

Nikki Finke, the acid tongued queen of Hollywood news and gossip, has a report pending which says that Funny People, Judd Apatow’s latest, has opened to only $8 million on Friday and a $22 million weekend.

I have a hard time understanding why the movie would do so poorly considering it’s getting pretty great reviews (63% on Rotten Tomatoes), has a fantastic cast (Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen, Leslie Mann, Eric Bana, Jonah Hill, and a great director in Judd Apatow. The only thing I can figure is that people are put off by the cancer storyline and the 2 hr 20 mins runtime.

Box office disappointment or not, I’m still dying to see it, so they’re at least guaranteed my $14.

2010 Walk of Fame honorees announced

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce have announced next year’s Hollywood Walk of Fame honorees.

Motion picture honorees will be Russell Crowe, Adam Sandler, James Cameron, John Cusack, Colin Firth, Gale Anne Hurd, Alan Menken, Randy Newman, Emma Thompson and Mark Wahlberg.

The TV honorees are Bill Maher, Chris Berman, Jon Cryer, Peter Graves, Jimmy Kimmel, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Sam Waterston.

Recording artists to be recognized are Ringo Starr, Bryan Adams, the Funk Brothers, Alan Jackson, Chaka Khan, Van Morrison, Marco Antonio Solis, ZZ Top and the late Roy Orbison.

Andrea Bocelli and the Cirque du Soleil’s Guy Liberte will represent live performance and theater.

These all seem fairly well deserved, but Mark Wahlberg, really. I guess he’s famous, but the only good thing he’s ever done was Boogie Nights, and by all accounts he was a total dick on set. At least that’s the way John C. Reilly tells it.

2 new TV spots for FUNNY PEOPLE

Here are two new TV spots for the upcoming Judd Apatow comedy, Funny People.

The film tells the story of comedian George Simmons (Adam Sandler) who when he learns of his terminal, inoperable health condition, develops a desire to form a genuine friendship, which leads him to take a relatively green performer under his wing as his opening act. The film is written and directed by Judd Apatow, and stars Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen, Eric Bana, Jonah Hill, Leslie Mann, Jason Schwartzman, Aziz Ansari, Ken Jeong, and a whole bunch of comedians playing themselves.

It’s set to open on 31st July.
