Another 3D project – this time it’s PIXELS

May 13 2010 Published by under Film

According to Deadline, Columbia Pictures and Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison are in negotiations to make a feature film based on the short Pixels.

I saw this short a while back on 1up.com and thought it was one of the most inventive things I’d seen in a long long time.  I have no idea what they’d do to turn it into a feature length film but I’m certainly intrigued.  And in 3D no less.  God I love the emergence of 3D.  I hope everyone does it.

Check out the short below.

Three more 3D projects in the works

May 13 2010 Published by under Film

Good news for fans of 3D today as a bunch of projects are trying to gear up.  Included in the trio is Universal Soldier IV with Dolph Lundgren and Jean Claude Van Damme, The Woman in Black which is written by Jane Goldman, and a reboot of Judge Dredd which is trying to be sold at Cannes.

To be honest, none of these have me particularly excited, as they’re all kinda low budget affair.  I’d be far happier if Marvel just came out and announced that they’re doing The Avengers and Captain America in 3D.  Then again, I should be thankful that lower budget projects are embracing the technology.  Really, the more the merrier.

Countdown to AVATAR

Dec 10 2009 Published by under Film

Oh hell yes.  One week to go until Avatar opens worldwide.  I’m not seeing it opening day because I’m going with a friend the day after so he can fit it around work.  I’m so excited to see it, primarily because it’s a James Cameron flick but also because it’ll be my first experience with any new kind of 3D.  The last 3D films I remember seeing were a space documentary I saw at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida back in 2005 and Captain Eo at one of the Disney parks in Orlando back in about 1989.  Needless to say, I expect to have my mind blown by this flick.

Below is the new IMAX poster for Avatar.

TOY STORY 3D trailer

Jul 29 2009 Published by under Film

Here’s a charming little trailer to promote the relaunch of Toy Story and Toy Story 2 in 3D.

I’d really like to see both of these in 3D but there’s no cinemas in my town which show 3D pictures, and I think there’s only one or two in Sydney.  Couple that with the probability that the relaunch won’t happen in Australia and it’s understandable why I’m a little disappointed.
