Are you sure it's a 6/10? It sounds like you like it overall, and 60% is a D in most American elementary school grade books. Tough rating.

The main guy Dave/Kick-Ass was certainly trying to resolve his own conflicts, and I'd say Hit Girl and Big Daddy were too. As for the rest I'm not so sure. I don't know if I'd classify the film as a comic or superhero thing. If Watchmen was a step away from the superhero genre then I'd say Kick-Ass is a further step away. It's much more of a vigilante in costume story than a superhero one.

I'm not much into comics or superheros, but I like coming of age stuff. And if that means costumed crime fighting in a movie, so be it. Was every main character struggling to resolve their own conflicts in the story or just the main character?

I can't recall any redeeming qualities about Mavis. She gets worse as the story goes on. More drunk, more cruel, more conniving. The best thing she does in the whole script is take the briefest of interest in Sandra (Matt's sister) right at the end. Mavis is the ultra popular girl in high school who still expects the world to revolve round her and get everything she wants. Completely unlikeable.
