I saw the extended video/trailer for The Killer Inside Me a while back and it was certainly unsettling, but I have such faith in Casey Affleck that I really think it could be good, and even though it got very mixed reactions at Sundance it still intrigues me.
I can’t find any concrete info on a release date other than a couple of film festivals, but hopefully I’ll get a chance to see it fairly soon.

Saw the trailer – very dark and violent, maybe too violent.
What's the difference between the violence in this movie and the violence is those gory video games?
I think the difference in violence is that from the trailer for The Killer Inside Me it seems to be a very real depiction of violence. And I've just never seen anything as real looking as the violence against women that's shown in the trailer. Most other violence you see in films is somewhat cartoonish, but not this one. Just that scene with Affleck slapping Alba in the face multiple times. So unsettling.
the director also said that the violence in the film is supposed to be unsettling. people shouldn't have that "guilty pleasure" watching it. they should be disgusted by it. judging from the sundance buzz, i think he managed to accomplish his goals.
