ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA and me

I visited NYC back in August for the very first time and it was love at first sight.  I have a real hard time explaining why I love NYC so much but after just a couple of hours wandering the city I knew it was the greatest place I’d ever been.  I can’t think of anywhere else I could walk from 10am to 9pm without really doing anything and enjoy myself as much as I did.  NYC makes me feel like no place has ever made me feel before.  It really is the greatest city in the world.

To relate this back to the site, I just discovered that the poster for Once Upon a Time in America is a photo of a street with a view of the Manhattan Bridge.  I actually walked down this street and took a photo of the bridge (with the Empire State Building visible through the middle) without realising the connection.  Here are the two images side by side.  Save for the cars, not much has changed in the 25 years since the film was released.

I love NYC. But everytime I go there in Sept(fall), I come back broke.
Hey Sept. is the most filmic time to go there.
A city a million years ahead of our time.
Hey you got me going, maybe I'll go there this Christmas.
Question: to make a short film at Central Park, do I need permission?

    Cinema is NYC.

I wouldn't have a clue about needing permission, but if I had to guess I'd say you'd be able to film without permission. Half of the NYU film school probably film there during the semester.
