TOY STORY 3 teaser trailer

May 31 2009 Published by under Film

This is apparently playing infront of Up, and despite it showing nothing and being roughly 1 year away, I’m still really excited about it.  Pixar can do no wrong in my eyes.

BETTER OFF TED to return for summer run

May 30 2009 Published by under TV

Better off TedIt appears that ABC is bringing back Better off Ted to burn off it’s remaining episodes during the summer.  Variety says:

Alphabet still had six episodes of “Ted” left from its midseason run earlier this year; those segs will now air Tuesdays at 9 p.m. starting June 23, behind new reality competish “The Superstars.”

It’s good news if you ask me because there’s usually nothing of interest on over summer and I really enjoyed Better off Ted for the few episodes that have aired.

Natalie Portman cast in YOUR HIGHNESS

May 30 2009 Published by under Film

Natalie PortmanYes.

Natalie Portman, one of my favourite actresses has been cast in the upcoming comedy Your Highness to star alongside Danny McBride and James Franco.

The film tells the story of an arrogant lazy prince (McBride) who with his brother (Franco) must complete a quest to save the kingdom and his brother’s fiance.  Portman will play a warrior princess that the lazy prince falls in love with.

I was already super excited about this because it was written by Danny McBride and Ben Best and is to be directed by David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express), but with Portman’s involvement it’s vaulted right to the top of my must see list.  I can’t wait.

Paul Verhoeven to direct THE SURROGATE

May 29 2009 Published by under Film

Paul VerhoevenIt looks like one of my all-time favourites is heading back to Tinseltown.  Paul Verhoeven is making his way back to Hollywood as he’s signed on to develop and direct The Surrogate for 20th Century Fox.

Not to be confused with Bruce Willis’ upcoming sci-fi actioner, The Surrogate tells the story of a couple desperate to have a child who find themselves in an unbearable position when they find out the surrogate they hired to carry their baby is insane.

I’ve always been a big fan of Verhoeven and was more than a little disappointed when he left Hollywood a few years back, however if he never left I doubt he would of made the awesome Zwartboek (Black Book).

Verhoeven has a number of projects in the pipeline including Clandestine (a prequel to LA Confidential), The Paperboy (a murder/mystery about a journalist in 1960′s Florida), and The Thomas Crown Affair 2 (the sequel to the 1999 film starring Pierce Brosnan).

Now if only he could lure Joe Eszterhas out of retirement and the two collaborate on something like back in the old days, I think I could die a happy man.

THE GOODS: LIVE HARD, SELL HARD red band trailer

May 29 2009 Published by under Film

Now this one looks awesome.

Starring a shit-ton of great comedic actors including Jeremy Piven, Will Ferrell, Ed Helms, Ken Jeong, David Koechner, Kathryn Hahn, and Tony Hale, the film tells the story of a used-car liquidator (Piven) who is hired by a flailing auto dealership to turn their Fourth of July sale into a majorly profitable event.

It’s set to open on 14th August.

New poster for THE ANSWER MAN

May 29 2009 Published by under Film

Here’s the first poster for The Answer Man (aka Arlen Faber) which stars Jeff Daniels, Lauren Graham, Lou Taylor Pucci, Kat Dennings, and Olivia Thirlby.  The film tells the story of a reclusive author of spiritual books who is pursued for advice by a single mother and a man fresh out of rehab.

My only interest in this film comes from the involvement of Kat Dennings.  I loved her in Nick and Norah, Charlie Bartlett, and The 40 Year Old Virgin, and would pretty much watch anything that she’s in.

The film has already played at Sundance and the Seattle International Film Festival and is set for limited release on 24th July.

1st poster for THE FINAL DESTINATION

May 29 2009 Published by under Film

Here’s the first poster for The Final Destination which I’m assuming is the last (or latest) installment in the Final Destination franchise.  According to IMDB, after a teen’s premonition of a deadly race-car crash helps saves the lives of his peers, Death sets out to collect those who evaded their end.  Oooh, spooky.

Honestly, I watched the first flick and thought it was ok, the second was barely enjoyable, and I skipped the third.  So the chances of me watching this one are slim to none.

It’s set to open on 28th August.

DEAD SNOW trailer

May 28 2009 Published by under Film

This sounds awesome.  Here’s the plot:

A group of teenagers had all they needed for a successful ski vacation; cabin, skis, snowmobile, toboggan, copious amounts of beer and a fertile mix of the sexes.  Certainly, none of them anticipated not returning home alive!  However, the Nazi-zombie battalion haunting the mountains had other plans.

ADVENTURELAND gets limited release in Australia

May 28 2009 Published by under Film

Adventureland

Australia f#$%ing sucks

I can’t even begin to say how pissed off I am about this, but Adventureland, one of the main films I was looking forward to this year has FINALLY been released here in Oz, only to be limited to 16 cinemas.  That’s right, a whopping 16!!!

16 for the WHOLE COUNTRY.

How the hell can this happen?  I mean Jesus, Lesbian Vampire Killers is being shown at 8 locations.  How can a movie featuring Bill Hader, Kristen Wiig, Ryan Reynolds, and Kristen Stewart not be given a full release?

I can’t see this film anywhere in my city.  Nowhere.  If I want to see it (which I do) I have to travel to Sydney.  There’s no way I’m travelling to Sydney and dealing with that traffic to see a film, no matter how much I want to see it.  On top of this it’s only being shown two times per day, 11am and 8:45pm.  That’s fucking bullshit.

For the most part living in Australia is pretty decent.  But it’s situations like this which make me hate this country.  I’m a movie fanatic and this kind of shit drives me insane.  We got shafted with no release for Grindhouse.  Kiss Kiss Bang Bang played for about 2 weeks at about 4 locations.  And now this.

BULLSHIT!!
